training apiary

Postby redwood » Sun Jun 07, 2015 7:17 pm

Second day for new beekeepers at West Glam's Training Apiary which for once the weather was kind, all the new beekeepers enjoyed inspecting the hives and we demonstrated how to hive a nuc for when they get their own bees which can be a daunting task if you have never seen it done before. After the beginners left (no volunteers there) Emyr and myself Re-queened the Psycho hive that was donated to me with a gentle Buckfast queen that was from Pete Little who owns Exmoor Bees and hives and runs brother Adams mating stations continuing the long line of these wonderful bees. On leaving the Apiary we noticed a swarm hanging on a bush behind us so that now is in a nuc.
